Cimbálová muzika Friška

Cimbálová muzika Friška was founded as an accompanying ensemble for the Kyjovánek ethnographic group. They made their debut as a full cimbalom band at the “Slovácký rok” festival in 2003. Their repertoire primarily features folk songs from the Kyjov region of Dolňácko, but also includes music from other Moravian regions, as well as Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

The ensemble has toured numerous festivals, including those in Strážnice, Mistřín, Liptál, and Domažlice, and even had the honor of performing during Pope Benedict XVI’s visit to Brno. In addition to accompanying various folk groups from across the Slovácko region and beyond, Friška also performs independently at showcases, wine tastings, and traditional feasts. The band is led by its artistic director and first violinist (primáš), David Vašulka. To celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2013, the ensemble released their CD “Veselo v Kyjově!”.
