The documentary series Kmeny, which maps contemporary urban subcultures, will present its fifteenth episode, Thrash Metal, at Rock for People 2026.
The history of the Thrash Metal tribe dates back to the turn of the 1970s and 80s. Emerging from Speed Metal and heavily influenced by hardcore punk elements, the genre went on to produce numerous gems in the form of now-classic albums by Slayer, Anthrax, and Exodus, as well as Sepultura and the local Czech legends Debustrol. At the same time, Thrash created the breeding ground for both Death and Black Metal.
However, new influences aren’t just about the music within the tribe anymore. It’s no longer just about leather and biker jackets; denim vests are now paired with bandanas, surf shorts, or trucker hats with flipped brims. The Kmeny project was produced as a co-production between Yinachi Studio and Czech Television.
