Lomnické Čháve

“With their playing and singing, they captivate the soul, yet they have no need for sheet music—with which they aren’t even on speaking terms. They have experienced the spotlight and the scent of luxury, yet back home, they lack a proper bathroom, toilet, or even running water,” wrote Pravda magazine about the group.

Lomnické Čháve is a Slovak Roma musical ensemble hailing from the village of Veľká Lomnica near the High Tatras. The band rose to fame through their high-energy fusion of traditional Roma music, Balkan rhythms, gypsy jazz, swing, and world music.

Over time, they have established themselves as one of Slovakia’s most prominent Roma bands, performing at festivals across Europe. Their work is characterized by virtuosic violin, spirited vocals, and the authentic atmosphere of the Roma musical tradition. With several albums to their credit, they are considered vital ambassadors of Roma culture and music abroad.
