Formed in Brighton in 2016, Ditz bring themes of insecurity, gender and body image to their music. New upcoming album ‘Never Exhale’ is the sound of a band that hasn’t stopped for a moment. The band have been touring relentlessly since the release of their first album ‘The Great Regression’ and the members have spent a respectable amount of time on the road, so the latest songs were mainly written on the road. Ditz recorded the record all over Europe, often on days off and in borrowed rehearsal rooms to make the long periods away from home more enjoyable.
“Never Exhale” explores themes of unnecessary hatred and division, aging or questions of perception of reality. The recordings are political and Kafkaesque philosophical. Sound-wise, the new songs are rooted in the usual DITZ influences – classic noise rock like The Jesus Lizard or Shellac, or the blunt post-punk of the Fall, while not forgetting fresh influences. Closing track ‘Britney’ could be compared to Radiohead or Mogwai. Overall, the latest releases are a clear evolution from their first effort and a sign of things to come.
