Energy

Rock for People is not only a music festival, but also a showroom for technology and innovation. Our long-term goal is to move away from fossil energy sources to renewable and alternative ones. That’s why we are testing their involvement in the running of the festival and this year they will also power a selected stage.

Remember the GEM Tower (GEM = Green Energy Mill)? It was a unique tower that, in 2022, generated energy from the sun and wind. This year we will be using solar power again. The KB Future Fest Zone will be powered by renewable energy sources. The Solar Stage, as the name suggests, will draw energy from solar panels. It will be operated by CE.ENERGY using a mobile photovoltaic power plant and a unique battery system. This solution offers green energy production with up to 95% reduction in carbon footprint compared to traditional sources.

In 2021, RfP saw a world premiere – we were the very first festival to feature a hydrogen-powered stage! This was made possible by the H2BASE hydrogen generator. How does it work? Thanks to a fuel cell, the generator converts hydrogen into water when it combines with oxygen to produce large amounts of electrical and thermal energy. The only waste from this reaction is distilled water.

What else do we do:

  • We take a responsible approach to energy in relation to the environment. That’s why we use more environmentally friendly LED lights at the festival wherever possible.
  • In the Park 360 area where the festival is held, we have replaced the original fixtures on the hangars and lamps with LED lighting. It is more energy efficient, allowing us to reduce overall energy consumption and generate savings. We also added switches to the lighting to control the lighting based on the ambient light levels.
