ROCK REALLY FOR PEOPLE, Rock&Pop, 29.8.1995
On Saturday, August 19, the Rock For People rock festival took place at the athletic stadium in Český Brod. Its proceeds of 70 000 crowns were given to the institute for mentally handicapped children in Bylany. Narvan shone at the festival, playing the same day in Brno in front of Uriah Heep and Support Lesbiens, who came directly from the festival in Trutnov. In addition to these bands, Bílá nemoc, ZOO, Bast, Dorota B.B. and Phil Shöenfelt were very popular with the audience. The festival was attended by about 1100 spectators and those who came did not lose out – the sponsor’s free Lucky Strike cigarettes certainly came in handy.
ROCK HELPED THE DISABLED, Blesk, 11.8.1995 – Marcela Bláhová
The 15-hour marathon of Rock For People music in Český Brod not only pleased rock music fans, but also benefited 35 mentally handicapped children from the nearby institution in Bylany. The director of the institute, Anna Hurtová, received the proceeds from the rock festival from the representatives of the organizing agency Ameba Production yesterday morning at the municipal office. The amount of 70 thousand crowns pleased not only her, but also the deputy mayor of the municipal office Helena Procházková. “We did not count on so much money. I was surprised by the level of the event. I didn’t meet any drunk people and I didn’t even notice anyone behaving inappropriately. I just had a bit of a cold at Rock For People,” Anna Hurtová said yesterday. Mentally handicapped children from the Bylan institution will have a new gym, rehabilitation equipment and maybe some left over to contribute to rehabilitation stays thanks to rock music fans. The level of the weekend’s event apparently surprised even the representatives of the municipality and they promised much more intensive cooperation in the future. The most famous bands of the Rock For People marathon weekend included ZOO, Narvan, Dorota B.B., Snake and Phil Shöenfelt. The midnight surprise was the band Support Lesbiens, which replaced the band Sluníčko – which had broken up a week earlier. Lenka Dusilová, the singer of Sluníčko, is starting her solo career and preparing her first album with producer David Koller.
