The uniqueness of each member brought this Canadian quintet together, and Alexisonfire soon became a post-hardcore phenomenon. Their distinctive sound is based primarily on a mixture of George Petit’s scream, Dallas Green’s clean vocals, and Wade MacNeil’s raspy vocals.
When they announced their breakup in 2011, the music world fell silent. By then, they had sold over a million records and earned four platinum albums. No one expected the members to embark on a farewell tour in 2012.
In 2022, however, they returned with a new album, Otherness, which proved that when Alexisonfire sets their mind to something, they go all in! The album perfectly reflects the maturity of their songwriting skills and is a continuation of their album Old Crows/Young Cardinals (2009).
As Revolver Magazine noted in 2019: “It’s hard to overstate the influence Alexisonfire had in post-hardcore through the mid-2000s, their combination of singing and screaming setting the blueprint for many artists to come.”
