Singer, songwriter, and producer Matthew Tyler Musto, known as blackbear, has created his own hedonistic and rebellious style, mixing catchy pop, pop punk, hip-hop, and alternative R&B. Over the course of 15 years, he has released seven studio albums and collaborated with stars such as Linkin Park, Mod Sun, Machine Gun Kelly, Yungblud, and Billie Eilish.
Blackbear has devoted almost his entire life to music. At the age of sixteen, he left school to tour with his punk band, but later focused on solo work and composing for other artists. He gained great popularity on SoundCloud, where he became one of the first artists to earn money from streaming on the platform. He released his debut album Deadroses in 2015, which included his platinum single “idfc.”
He then collaborated with Machine Gun Kelly on the hit “my ex’s bestfriend,” which won an MTV Video Music Award for “Best Alternative Video” and spent several weeks at No. 1 on the radio charts. In addition to a number of other successful collaborations, blackbear is also capable of taking the stage by storm. “Touring is such a huge part of my life, and I have my hands in almost every single aspect of it,” he says. “I’m really passionate about listening to fans and giving them what they want.”
