BraAgas CZ

BraAgas is a predominantly female band that performs folk songs from all over Europe. A significant part of BraAgas’ repertoire consists of Sephardic songs, and overall BraAgas sticks very much to the repertoire of the countries of Iberia. Scandinavian and Balkan folklore is also popular, as BraAgas revel in their “odd” rhythms and singable melodies.

Lately, the band has also been focusing on folk songs from Moravia.
In their arrangements of folk music, BraAgas try to take advantage of the diversity of origin of individual songs. Ethnic and historical instruments add an interesting sound, with great female vocals floating above them, intertwined in exactly the harmonies the songs’ origins call for.

BraAgas have been playing together since early 2007. In that time they have played dozens of concerts in this country, but mostly abroad. Domestic festivals worth mentioning are Colours of Ostrava, or MFT Zlatá Praha, from abroad e.g. “Rainforest world music festival” in Malaysian Borneo, EBU Folk Festival in Cologne, or Sur Jahan festival in India.
