CHRPY consists of four experienced musicians, each of whom has been involved in other projects: Vegy brings drive and lots of ideas, Tomsn brings a sense of emotion and arrangement, Stoláč brings gentler lyrics and versatile vocals, and drummer Tom brings precision and energy. Czech language was the obvious choice from the start – both as a challenge and as a natural next step.

“We formed at a time when we already knew exactly what we wanted to do and why,” says the band. “We have jobs, families, other projects – objectively, we have less time than before, but paradoxically, it works more freely. We worry less about numbers and expectations and focus more on the joy of creating.”

The band’s debut album, entitled Co mohlo být (What Could Have Been), summarizes approximately two years of working together. The lyrics and compositions were written intensively during the first two months after the initial session, but the final form evolved continuously. Themes? Nostalgia, misunderstanding, sometimes even hopelessness. Damián Kučera (Skywalker, etc.) was responsible for the production, mixing, and mastering, becoming an integral part of the creative process. “We often rewrote the arrangements and looked for stronger solutions, but we managed to implement most of the original ideas from the demos,” recalls the band.
