Food waste is a pressing problem that not only households but also supermarket chains face on a daily basis. Fruits, vegetables, baked goods and dairy products often end up in bins while still finding their way into our fridges and pantries. Some individuals choose the unconventional route of dumpster diving, rescuing food from supermarket bins. But food can also be disposed of sustainably by the vendors themselves. In a panel discussion on food rescue, both sides will meet: the dumpster diver and the chain store representative. We will discuss the benefits of dumpster diving and how it is changing the way we think about consumption and what stores can do to make use of food that can no longer be sold.

Speakers:

Anna Sochorová – Dumpster (a person with experience in dumpster diving)
