Hardcore lifers and metalcore maestros Dying Wish emerged from Portland, Oregon. After gaining underground fame, they returned after the pandemic with two crushing albums, Fragments of a Bitter Memory (2021) and Symptoms of Survival (2023), which catapulted them to the heights of the hardcore scene. Live, their crowds are rambunctious no matter who they tour with, whether it’s hardcore knuckle-draggers Pain of Truth or metalcore bigwigs Spiritbox.
Over several years of constant touring, the band members – Emma Boster (vocals), Pedro Carrillo (guitar), Sam Reynold (guitar), Jon Mackey (bass), and Jeff Yambra (drums) – have made tremendous strides forward. Proof of this is their latest album, Flesh Stays Together (2025), which reflects their seasoned view of the world and their bold confidence as songwriters who are not afraid to shake up established metalcore formulas.
Flesh Stays Together is a bold evolution of their breakneck sound – it’s rougher, catchier, riskier, and more uncompromising lyrically than any of their previous works. Dying Wish doesn’t offer listeners a respite from their daily suffering, but instead tightens the noose around their necks even tighter.
