It is a great honor to welcome the legend of Czech music Marie Rottrová – the first lady of Czech soul, a born Ostrava musician, great singer, pianist, and composer – to the 30th-anniversary edition of Rock for People.
Marie Rottrová will present a gala concert with the big band Septet Plus Orchestra and guest Petr Němec, which will include not only proven hits but also songs from the beginning of their career, for which Marie Rottrová earned the nickname “Lady Soul”. This Czech music icon will, of course, also sing the songs that brought her to the imaginary Olympus, accompanied by a musical ensemble. You can therefore look forward to musical gems such as “Lásko voníš děštěm”, “Ten vůz už jel”, “Skořápky ořechů”, “Markétka”, “Zřejmě letos nikde nejsou kytky”, “S tím bláznem si nic nezačínej” and other songs.
The fact that the proud Ostrava-born artist is one of the stalwarts of Czech popular music is evidenced by the countless awards she has received during her musical career – this year she was even awarded the Medal for Merit 1st Class in the field of art.
In 1971, Marie Rottrová won the Audience Award at the Bratislava Lyra for the song Hej, nebuď nesvá. In the same year she came third in the Zlatý slavík (Golden Nightingale) poll, in which she was later always in the top ten. Among many other awards, she won the 1981 Critics’ poll and was named Melodie magazine’s Singer of the Year.
