In a world full of hardcore, Militarie Gun stands out for its sincerity. Like many others, they transcend the boundaries of their genre with catchy melodies, but it is their lyrics that make them unique. Who else can sing so openly about accompanying their mother to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings as a child?
This theme appears on their debut album Life Under The Gun (2023) and on their latest album God Save The Gun (2025), whose central theme is frontman Ian Shelton’s personal struggle with alcohol addiction. Although the album may seem emotionally demanding when listening to it, it ends with a symbolic light at the end of the tunnel. “It’s important to me that the album ends on a hopeful note. I think the worst kind of art is the kind where you don’t learn anything,” says the band’s singer.
