Although their debut album is still on the way, overpass have managed to rise to become one of the most promising names on the British music scene. Their music is dominated by energetic guitars accompanied by thunderous drums, while frontman Max Newbold’s voice radiates searing emotion. They sound just as good on stage as they do in the studio.
The members started out with modest ambitions – they only wanted to play covers, but very soon they caused a stir in their neighborhood. Since then, they have played alongside stars such as The Wombats, Wunderhorse, and Inhaler.
overpass are also proud of the musical heritage of their hometown of Birmingham, home to legends such as Black Sabbath and The Streets. They consider the diversity and character of the city to be fundamental to their success so far. “I want us to achieve longevity as a band,” says drummer Jake Bishop, “and make sure that every time we do a new project it’s a step forward.”
