Some time ago, a strange cartoon dude in a hat came to Michal Skořepa (ex-Stroy) and introduced himself as Mr. Lynx (half Michal and half Lynx) and told him that he should go “into the woods” because his instincts, which he had already forgotten, would come back.
Michal did so, turned himself inside out a bit in the process, and back again, and as a result has started singing in Czech, playing the piano again, and making music that he himself doesn’t know what to think of, but knows he has no choice. Musically, it’s kind of like mixing together what you like. In our case that means grunge, stoner rock, Russian classical from the turn of the 19th/20th century, jazz that can’t be played in elevators, and Butoh. It’s not for everyone, but it’s even more so for some. It’s like a pizza you put 10 ingredients on. Meat knocks out vegetarians, cheese knocks out vegans, some people don’t like olives. But if someone likes all 10, they’re home. And if someone likes nine, maybe they’ll learn to like something new.
