Quicksand US

The legendary Quicksand emerged from the New York hardcore scene in 1990. The current lineup consists of Walter Schreifels (vocals/guitar), Sergio Vega (bass), and Alan Cage (drums).

Early in their career, the band released two significant albums, Slip (1993) and Manic Compression (1995). Slip was a mixture of staccato riffs, soaring harmonies, and resonant bass tones. Manic Compression then definitively changed the rules of the game in the music field, as its sound was adopted by bands such as Shift, Understand, and Hundred Reasons. Quicksand had a bright future ahead of them.

But in 1995, the first breakup came. And although they announced their return in 1997 with a tour of the United States, their subsequent breakup in 1999 meant that fans had to wait another 20 years for a third album. However, their third studio album, Interiors (2017), earned critical acclaim and confirmed the band’s legendary status.

The band’s latest release is Distant Populations (2021), which is even more lively and distinctive. “On the one hand, everyone is so connected,” says Schreifels about the album’s themes, adding, “And on the other hand, they are terribly distant and frightened of everything.” Quicksand are back in full force and ready to give their best!
