Budapest alternative rock quintet Shell Beach traverse the lines of post-hardcore and experimental, showcasing their intangible gift for introspective songwriting infused with their unique atmospheric alt rock sound. Essentially a Hungarian supergroup from Budapest’s highly respected underground scene, Shell Beach delivered their third album, the sensational Solar Flare, via Australian label Wild Thing Records on February 17th, 2023. Expanding on their hardcore and shoegaze roots, the band produced an incredibly evolved record, heading in a more progressive direction than ever before. Through Solar Flare, the band delves deep into themes of mental health, loss and rebirth, survival, resilience, and defiance. The new album also features a unique cover of the 1994 Hungarian smash hit Olyan Szépek Voltunk (We Were So Beautiful); a tribute to the original songwriter Tamás Somló (from world recognised acts Omega and Locomotiv GT), the late father of Shell Beach guitarist Paul Somló.
