The Prodigy are a British music group whose music consists of many diverse styles from rave to hardcore techno with alternative rock, breakbeat and punk elements. Current members are Liam Howlett (composer/keyboards) and Maxim (MC/singer).
The Prodigy emerged on the underground rave scene in the early 90s. Since then they have achieved immense popularity and worldwide recognition. Some of their best known songs include Charly, Take Me To The Hospital, Out of Space, Invaders Must Die, No Good (Start the Dance), Voodoo People, Firestarter, Omen, Breathe, Smack My Bitch Up! Along with artists such as The Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim, he is one of the pioneers of the genre called “break beat”.
The Prodigy are one of the most successful electronic groups of all time, selling an estimated 25 million records worldwide including over 4.7 million albums in the UK. They have scored seven consecutive UK number one albums. AllMusic described them as “the premiere dance act for the alternative masses” and “the Godfathers of Rave”. The Prodigy have won many awards during their career, including two Brit Awards for Best British Dance Act, three MTV Video Music Awards, two Kerrang! Awards, five MTV Europe Music Awards, and two Grammy Award nominations.
