Music that doesn’t just immerse you, but that you can influence yourself. That is the world of video game music, to which we dedicated a special series of lectures last year, and we’re continuing the tradition this year. This time, however, we’ll meet at the City Music Hall in Hradec Králové (Zieglerova 91).
From June 10th to 12th, a unique program focused on the musical and sound components of computer games awaits you. Admission is free – all you need to do is register at: https://www.playthegame.space/.
What will you hear (and see)?
Jan Valta (Kingdom Come: Deliverance), Vladimír Šimůnek (Mafia), Juraj Mravec (Peaky Blinders / The Crown), and many others will present their work through lectures and expert insights.
A major highlight will be live performances of game music. On June 10th at 11:00 AM, you can hear music from Kingdom Come: Deliverance performed on violin (Jan Valta) accompanied by organ (played by Václav Metoděj Uhlíř). On June 11th at 11:00 AM, an organ rendition of music from Mafia will be featured as part of a lecture by composer Vladimír Šimůnek. This is a unique opportunity to experience game music not just theoretically, but live in the stunning setting of a concert hall.
“This will be my second time appearing at Play the Game, and I’m already looking forward to it. This year, we’re spicing up the lecture with live music. And since the event is held at the Municipal Music Hall, I’ll be accompanied by an organ—an instrument you wouldn’t normally hear in Kingdom Come: Deliverance,” says Jan Valta with a smile.
From Wednesday to Friday, a one-hour workshop on creating music with AI led by Petr Chroustovský will take place. The workshop will be held every day before the main lecture block, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM in the Knight’s Hall of the City Music Hall.
