The 31st edition of the Rock for People festival at Park 360 in Hradec Králové welcomed over 80,000 unique visitors across five festival days, successfully passing a major stress test alongside its new water management infrastructure. The debut of a brand-new circular water management system—designed in collaboration with nextdrop and the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (UCT Prague)—saved significant amounts of drinking water while minimizing both energy and environmental impacts. “We were looking for a solution that would be eco-friendly while fully meeting the needs of our attendees. We managed to save a massive volume of drinking water and enhance the comfort of our fans, which is our top priority,” says Rock for People Director Luděk Motyčka.
Securing a smooth and stable water supply for tens of thousands of visitors presents an extraordinary logistical and technological challenge. Throughout the five-day festival, a total of 5 million liters of water flowed through the Park 360 grounds. “We are constantly looking for ways to use available resources responsibly, while ensuring that the proposed solutions make sound economic sense. From the very beginning of our collaboration with the Park 360 and RfP teams, it was clear they think long-term and seek opportunities to develop their projects sustainably,” explains nextdrop Project Manager Petr Drexler. Thanks to this innovative concept, the festival significantly reduced its reliance on traditional water sources and tanker deliveries, which had previously reached their operational limits.
Attendee Comfort Without Compromise and a Long-Term Vision for a Sustainable Park 360
The modernization of the water infrastructure directly translated into an upgraded experience for attendees. “The main objective of the water dispatch center wasn’t just to collect data, but to deliver it in real time to the entire operational team. Analyzing this data allowed us to respond swiftly to inevitable issues, such as fluctuations in consumption and supply, or leaks and pipe bursts. The dispatch center enabled us to safely manage water distribution and recycling in real time, and the data gathered will help plan future editions and guide the infrastructure development of Park 360,” adds nextdrop founder František Mach.
The successful live deployment at Rock for People 2026 confirmed that the concept is fully functional and ready to support the ongoing development of Park 360. This model paves the way for hosting large-scale cultural events with environmental responsibility at their core—minimizing carbon and ecological footprints while managing natural resources efficiently.
